Bread & butter

boulangerie & crémerie treats

First day wandering in Paris and it was my mission to find a good baguette and the butter recommended by Shannon Bennett in his Paris book. The fromagerie Marie-Anne Cantin was so sweet, and although the lady who served me spoke no English, I managed to ask using my terrible first-day-in-Paris French vocab which cheese was good to eat right away (although I went for butter I couldn't resist the cheese once I was in there) - how did I do that? I said 'c'est bon?' and shrugged and pointed around at the cheeses! It worked because the cheese is super good. Some of it made its way into my omelet tonight too:

All of a sudden it makes sense to make an omelette: cooked in the delicious butter, with red onion, parsley & the gooey cheese, mmmmm! Already thinking about the chanterelles I might find at a market this weekend for the next one...
